Criteria & Procedures

St Mark’s has an inclusive enrolment policy which reflects the demographic reality of the district of Mt Barker.

St Mark’s has developed strong relationships with DECD Kindergartens (Mt Barker Kindergarten & Willow Close Kindergarten) as well as other private providers of early education.

Criteria

The following criteria shall be observed when offering an enrolment at St Mark’s:

1. Families with siblings currently enrolled at St Mark’s Lutheran School

2. Children of active communicant members of St Mark’s Lutheran Church

3. Children of other active communicant members of the Lutheran Church

4. Special circumstances as deemed by the Principal

5. Date of application

Foundation Intake

St Mark's has a one intake policy at the beginning of the school year. This requires the child to turn 5 years before 1st May in the year they commence Foundation.

Enrolment Application Forms are available and you are encouraged to apply early as enrolment spaces can be limited. On receipt of application, an interview with the Principal, including a tour of the school, will be arranged at the appropriate time.

St Mark’s is a Foundation to Year 6 school with students able to access the newly formed Middle School at Cornerstone College commencing in Year 7.

Procedure for Enrolment

1. Lodgement of the ‘Enrolment Application’. The application form does not guarantee a placement.

2.Interview of the child’s parents by the school Principal, preferably with the child in attendance.

3. Principal offers enrolment placements based on the ‘Criteria’ stated above. Parents are advised of the time period by which they need to respond to the placement offer. The child’s parents complete a ‘Confirmation of Enrolment’ form, and forward it to the school with the stipulated fee. Once this payment is made, the placement is secured and guaranteed by the school. The fee will be deducted from the first tuition fee charged on the child’s commencement at St Mark’s.

4. Failure to meet the stipulated time will result in the offer of enrolment lapsing, however, the application will remain on the school’s database.

Any queries concerning enrolment, please contact the School Secretary.

As St Mark’s is a member school of LEAH (Lutheran Education Adelaide Hills), your child is automatically registered with Cornerstone College, providing a F-12 Lutheran schooling pathway.   Registration does not equal automatic enrolment, but is a right to seek enrolment under the guidelines of Cornerstone College’s Enrolment Policy.
